En el año 2011, en INIA Las Brujas se instaló una progenie a campo de 161 plantas, originada por el cruzamiento entre Fayette × Rich Lady. Luego de tres zafras de evaluación a campo (2013, 2014 y 2015), fue seleccionada una planta bajo el código INIA 11.08-74, que reunía buenas características
de adaptación a inviernos con baja acumulación de frío, calidad de fruto, y baja susceptibilidad a bacteriosis y podredumbre morena. |

ABSTRACT.
Coenosia attenuata (Stein, 1903) is a predatory fly which feeds on other insects and can be used as a possible biological control agent. We report this insect in Uruguay for the first time. The flies were found in greenhouses on tomatoes and sweet peppers and identified using both DNA barcoding and morphological characteristics.
